Our prayer this day is for the weak and often forgotten in our world. Forgive us for our shameful neglect. We are too often building our kingdom comforts and pleasures to the neglect of those less fortunate, broken, and afraid. Stir our compassion for the orphans, the widows, the friendless, the abused, the lonely, and the forgotten. Forgive us for a love that has a small circumference. With shamefulness we have left them as prey to the devouring enemy; forgive us; forgive me.

Enlarge our hearts, O’ LORD. Expand our compassion beyond ourselves. Lift up the weak and downtrodden. Each day remind us that we are the hands and heart of Jesus in this world. And though this godless world sees no value in the weak, You have chosen the weak and what is low and despised in this world. Help us to see the Image of God upon them.
